For years, readers with less than perfect eyesight were urging us to produce a large-print crossword magazine.
The main problem in achieving this was getting the grid right. When we experimented with clue numbers large enough to be easily read, they either filled up the squares or else the grid had become ridiculously large. We solved the problem and as a result now offer the custom designed easy-to-read Large Print Crossword book. The puzzles themselves will still be of the challenging variety, but you won’t have to squint or hold the page at arm’s length in order to read the clues or numbers.
My husband, James and I know about this because, being part of the baby boomer generation, we find reading definitely gets harder as we age! Going to restaurants for instance means that I read the menu out to James to save him bringing his glasses, but he has to read out the blackboard specials to me. Even if you have 20-20 vision, you may know someone who loves crosswords but struggles with reading normal print clues - in which case, easy to read Large Print Crosswords will make the perfect gift.
